BOOK REVIEW: VAMPIRE ACADEMY

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school—it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's—the very place where they're most in danger…

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Vampire Academy is another book I’ve wanted to read for quite some time now, and now that I have I truly regret it. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed it! But since I only have the first book I now have to wait a long time before I can get my hands on the rest of the series… I hope somewhere in the near future I can just push a button and the book I ordered will appear in my mailbox in just a few seconds. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

The first 150 pages took me a while to read and I struggled at times to keep up with all the details and information. I’m not sure if it was the book itself or because I was so distracted by all the awful stuff that’s been happening in my country lately, but I’m guessing it was the latter. However, when I reached the middle I could not put the book down… literally. I usually just read in my room, but this time I had it with me everywhere I went in the house. Even while I was cooking, which is a big no-no. What a tragedy it would be if I got food on some of the pages! Thick, warm, orange taco sauce eating up the words and paper faster than your eyes can blink! Okay, I’ll stop with these hideous thoughts before we all go into a shock.

I loved Rose and Dimitri, and cannot wait to read more about them. The same goes for Lissa and Christian. I also loved that the vampires can specialize in one specific element. I never get tired of books and movies about people with special abilities. Go Christian with his awesome fire skills! Please let me see more of that, Richelle!

Vampire Academy is a very good first book in the series and I highly recommend it to everyone! If there’s anyone left out there who haven’t read this book yet, then… go eat a carrot dipped in hot, thick taco sauce because it’s about time you read VA!
